3 tiers of happiness :D

The day started at 10.49am when I received Poppy’s call.

I was supposed to wake up at 8 and give him a morning call at 9.

I guess we both overslept

So in the end, we met at noon and we realised we both happened to be wearing bright barbie pink

Headed to the east for Novena’s warehouse sale…

It was ultra disappointing.. And of coz, I din managed to find anything close to wad I want…

But I really like the super big chair at the entrance

We traveled quite a dist in the car, dropping by at Royal Sporting House outlet and Pacific Bldg…

Hungry and disappointed with our progress thus far, we stopped for our fav Fei Fei wanton mee at Joo Chiat…

Aft dat we went to EastPt Mall to source for mini whiteboard and to buy Boy Boy’s treats.

There was a cat fair at the atrium and we saw this HUMONGOUS fat cat!!

Totally obese…

we went to Courts first coz they are having some Mega Sale.

We went ard trying their DSLR, Sofa set, beds, chairs….

And of coz we din buy anything

But in the process, I’ve proven my pt that HIGH BEDS (esp those that’s so high u need to climb into it) are so much more comfy than LOW BEDS. Yes, I win

Went back to Ikea with hope that the work station will be on sale…

but NOOOOOO…..

It is still at full price

But it was really really ideal for my space… So I bought it

(oh, with the money from Mr Lee’s Ang Bao )

The box of stuff was really long and heavy…

Probably 30kg. At Least.

We almost thot it will not fit into Jazzy and I’ll nd to pay another $50 to get it delivered

But Amazing Jazzy and Amazing Poppy managed to get it to fit right in!!

I was over the moon I tell you!!

That’s $50 saved! and so I treated poppy to din din

At Sake Teppanyaki…

Yes, the set even came with dessert

I was damn full by the time we’re done…

But Poppy wanted to eat MORE!

So we went to cartel for dessert…

Ok… Soup of the day, free flow bread and wings are nowhr close to dessert… But I think s’one really spent quite alot of energy during the day

Reached home ard 1130 and Poppy helped me to set up my new space

As mentioned b4, I removed the desktop ystday so today I just had to move the comp desk away

Look at the mess I made

And the 2 most beloved man of my life spent the next half and hr in the hot simmering weather, helping me to fix the table up…

DONE!!

I do believe that all their love for me can be seen in the amt of sweat they shed…

Ok, yucky… but really really sweet when I look at them

Poppy cont to helped me set up my stuff and did a wonderful job of keeping the wires neat and out of sight!

I can even put papers and my laptop sleeve in the cable compartment

And now I can finally have a big enuf space to use my laptop (comfortably), have a book for reference and tk notes at the same time!!

But it wasn’t all that smooth-sailing…

When they were getting the desk into the space, it looks as if it will not fit!

Coz I measured the top part and there were still a few inches of space, but I forgot there was a ledge on the floor!

Luckily, Poppy managed to get it to fit JUST NICE. If not I really dunno wad to do with it

He even improvised a “stress reliever” to reduce the stress on the middle section of the desk just in case the bottom is too tight…

He left ard 2+ and I sat down to enjoy my new work space…

The 3-tier design is giving me lots of space to put my books and file for the new semester too

I feel happy just using it…

Not only because it’s sth that I wanted, but because it reminds me of:

1) Mummy walking ard with a cloth wiping what ever things that have dust on it

2) Daddy being a really great help with the fixing, moving and clearing

3) Poppy for being there thru-out this whole process, from brainstorming, to choosing, to searching to purchasing, to transporting, to fixing, to perfecting…

Daddy’s Day 09

Me and mum sneaked out ystday.

But it was not (simply) because we were dead bored at home ok…

It’s becoz we wanted to celebrate daddy’s day with… well, my dad (of coz)…

Since Keith and family are still in BKK (wahlau shopping!!), we decided on a simple little dinner treat for my dad

We went ard amk central to look for a nice plc for dinner b4 my dad knocked off from work.

And he reached AMK Hub just b4 the dinner crowd starts their mad queuing.

Guess which exciting plc we settled for?????? **Glee in excitment**

THAT’s because mum says that they always passes by and see soooooo many ppl queuing and  yet have nv eaten there b4.

So despite 12 days of US food, me and mum sat thru another rnd of it.

And despite my conscious (but non-materializing) efforts to reduce fatty food intakes aft my US trip, I ordered the most sinful thing on the menu. The sausage wrapped in bacon and cheese thing.

We’re all glad that AT LEAST my dad’s F&C tastes resaonable.

And aft the meal, we just sat there staring unbelieveably (and unfathom-ably) at the snaking queue waiting to enter.

Shrugs.

Went on to for dessert at a new dessert place in AMK Hub (to rid the disgusting sausage taste in our mouths).

Aft dat we went to shop ard NTUC and decided to WALK our way hm from central.

Anw they were walking v fast coz they wanna rush back to watch their soppy taiwanese drama -_-

And that was HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

*Met Shu Wen while we’re having dinner and she said she could not recognise me!! O_O At least she bothered to stop and ask me rather than walk away, assuming I’m just a stranger having some eye problem -_-

Mummy’s Day 09

This year, we had a simple family dinner a week b4 the actual mother’s day at Changi’s Teochew Kitchen.

It was in the midst of exam period so me and Poppy mugged till the last min b4 we left for dinner…

It took us 10 mins to drive from Pop’s house to the place, but we took more than 10 mins to find a parking lot and the search was futile.. So we left it with the valet…

Because Jac was here b4, so she ordered the food and we just happily sit there chit-chatting and cam-whoring

My bro injured his hand in a “fight” and had to rely on Linda to take out his wallet…

And for the actual mother’s day, which is Sunday, me and mummy went Tampines!!

And even though Poppy had a bad headache in the morning and missed service, he came all the way dwn to fetch me and mummy to Tampines…

Her hair is almost done…

And we both got new hairstyles for our Changmai trip!! hahaha Hiao Bohs…

Aft dat we went shopping at Tampines Central and met my cousin dere

Mummy din really like Tamp1. she preferred Tamp mall and Century alot more

Then we had dinner and took the train home ard 10+ (yes, aft ALL the shops have closed)…

And we kept talking excitedly abt the Changmai trip on the train (my coussie’s gng with us too!!)

Kathy’s 10th

My lil niece is growing up really fast right b4 my eyes…

She was a lil baby and now she’s 10!!

And all tall and lanky too

She had a mini-cele at Downtown East chalet with BBQ and was sooooo bz with the other kids that I had no chance of seeing her…

Me, Mum and Dar grabbed a truckload of food and escaped to a more serene area behind the chalet to escape from all the hustle bustle..

There was more food than what you see…

And we happily chit chat and gossiped our evening away~

But b4 we know it, it’s cake-cutting sesssion

Jac became the “cat-murderer”… All the kids were saying,”You so cruel!”, “No, not the eyes!”, “Poor cat…”

But few mins ltr, they were happily enjoying the cake -_-

Me Mum and Dar wanted to stay ard and talk s’more till 12 but Dad and Gran reached hm to realise that neither of them brought the keys!! So our night was cut short and we had to rush at 10… Wad a boo-boo

Still, I guess all of us enjoyed the day, esp my little darling

Finally came hm b4 12am today. 10+ actually… Yeahhh~!!!!

Aft passing my wedding dinner clothes to Dar for tmr, I slapped on my mask and yak non-stop w Mummy

How enjoyable!!

We talked abt A WHOLE LOT of stuff… we got so much to update each other lah! Like some long lost fren (which is quite sad… coz we’re staying under the same roof!!)

You guys noe the PSLE results were out not too long ago right?

She was telling me abt a fren of hers…

Her son just got his PSLE results. She was expecting a score of 255 frm him, but he only managed a 235. Kena some crazy whacking and lashing.

It suddenly dawned on me that my mum had NEVER laid a finger on me b4 for getting bad grades.

NEVER.

Not for my spelling, not for tests, not for exams, not for PSLE, not for O’s, not for A’s.

She’ll scold me when I dun do hw, cane me when I say a lie, make me kneel on the straw mat for a night when I deliberately skipped my piano exam.

But she never ever punished me for getting bad grades or grades that wasn’t up to her expectation.

She let me quit tuition at P3 when I told her I can manage my studies.

She let me quit Art and Crafts aft I told her I lost interest in it.

She let me stop abacus class when I told her I really dun find it useful.

She let me drop piano lesson (aft buying the piano for me) when I told her I dun like the teacher.

I noe of kids who never got to enjoy their  weekends properly w/o a single class or tuition. But my Sundays were never w/o shopping trips and high-tea with my mum.

My mum is damn fierce and strict when it comes to disciplinary problems. but for studies, she dun believe in the harsh and pushy way.

She rationalized that I will spend at least 13-16 years of my life studying, she dun wan to make me fear studies and exams, so she just “let nature takes it’s course”. Ultimately, I’m studying for my future, not hers, so she believe in instilling that mindset in me so that I have the intrinsic motivation to study hard for good grades.

I rmb when I was a kid, my motivation for good grades were never avoidance motivation – trying to score well so that my parents will not punish me. I was motivated to do well so that I can show it to my parents and make them happy and proud of me (and get some fancy toys as reward in the process. Who’s not guilty of that man?)

I used to think that mum was never too impressed when I told her I got the highest marks for chinese essay in several occassions. She din even seem impressed when I showed her a book with my essay published in it. She just said, “wah~ not bad ah~” But occasionally, she’ll ask me if I kept the book properly. Even until now… Which is like 9 years aft I 1st showed her the book. And she still rmbs it

Then she told me abt a cousin of mine whose mum banged his head on the wall when he quitted his Accounting couse in a uni in KL because he really hated the course and cant take it anymore.

Then I remembered how she gave me the freedom to choose my own path because she believed in me.

She let me pick the sec sch dat I wanna go (even when I cld have made it to s’whr else)

She let me choose if I wanted JC or Poly.

She let me decide if I really wanna stay in SR or go s’whr else.

She gave me all the support when I said I wanna do Psych (unlike alot of other ppl who denigrate Psych like it’s the most useless course in Uni)

She told me to do Honors only if I think I can cope.

Even though I noe that she’s satisfied just just knowing if I’m doing ok in uni, I’ll show her any little acheivements I get. Even if it’s just an A for a term paper, or getting the highest for Social Psych term-test, I’ll let her noe. She dun understand  how the grading system work, but I love it when I get to share these little moments of joy and pride with her when she noes that my studies are getting along well

At the end of our chat, mum made me promise not to be a grade-crazy-achievement-mad mum nxt time…

Mummy’s **th Bday!

This year had been a year of big-scale bday celebrations in the family…

My 21st, Granny’s Bday, Daddy’s 60th…

All involved the entire extended family, and it was funnnn…

But finally, we’re just having a simple and warm family bday celebration…

For Mummy~!!

If u guys haven realised, my mum is an avid BUFFET fan…

(yes, she can eat ALOT)

Last year we went for Marriot’s Dinner Buffet, and dis yr, we headed to Iodori Japanese Restaurant for their ala carte buffet

As usual, we’re late… coz we had to pick mum up, and pick the cake b4 gng to Riverview Hotel

They have more than 115 items on their buffet list

And because it’s ala carte buffet and the place is full-house, there was quite a long waiting time between ordering and serving…

But no worries~ We cam-whore!

And the service there is sooooooooooooo good, u request for ANYTHING, they will really try their best to give it to u…

It belonged to a waitress… we asked her if there was anything for my poor granny to kp herself warm, and she just lent it to us!

Okok, the food is FINALLY here (ok lah, it didn’t really take DAT long)

The Sashimi were damn super freaking shiok lahhhh~!!!

I dunno how to describe them lah…

JUst makes u wanna eat n eat n eat n never grow bored of them…

Really really succulent, sweet, fresh and niceeeeeeee……

And Dar converted my mum into a swordfish eater too…

And she ganged up w Dar to force me to eat CARROTS!

Ok… now for the most orgasmic dish…

For cake-cutting, we requested to do it at the table beside us, coz our table was in a huge mess…

And despite just cleaning and setting the tables, they still let us use it… And even made sure we had enuf space, plates, fork….

Off They Go~

Daddy & Mummy are off to Shanghai for a week.

So exciting… go pai tuo w/o me -_-

I washed my 1st batch of clothes today Seems clean, heheh.

And granny is so cute…… She volunteered to slp w me in my parents rm, she say, “You scared to slp alone? Want me to sleep with you?”

I said I want… haha

And I’ll try to go home by din time so dat I can buy food for granny and eat w her

I hope I’ll learn to be more independent and responsible for my own stuff during this period of time. It’s time for me to grow up and help mummy w all her workload… And also… I’m sure I’ll learn to really really appreciate my parents for all their care and concern when they are always here ard me…

It’s ok… 7 days is fast.

This cake is supposed to arrive b/w 3-6PM… But it never came! And when we called them, they say the driver had alrdy delivered ALL the cake… but we din receive… And my visa transaction alrdy went thru…. So aft they checked their order… They said they thot that the cake was supposed to be for TMR… WAD?! But cakes are nv a prob for Dar… he is alrdy an EXPERT in dealing w cake problems (late arrival, no cake, wrong cake, bad cake, wadever) so aft talking to the person, he got the person to deliver our cake b4 8PM, FRESHLY BAKED

Oh and then there was the joke abt the hand-writing… Everyone started calling my dad “Harry” (it’s supposed to be Happy -_-)
